Imagine the perfect cliff top villa. With views over the Mediterranean sea, an infinity edge pool and balcony suspended over the sea, all in front of your double bedroom. This is what we call Q's cliff top Villa, a stunning house, a house for a once in a lifetime holiday, a house for martinis that are shaken and not stirred, a house for lazing by the pool watching the sailing yachts in the bay, a house for wishing every day could be like this. It sleeps 6, though the owner prefers 4, and if there are only 2 of you and out of season, the price becomes even more interesting.
The house is set in a private enclave of around 20 houses, with gated access, so that it is always quiet, even in the height of the French summer season. Access is through a side gate or via the lower ground garage. On entering the house you look straight across the large living area, with its sunken seating area, to a wooden terracing and the Mediterranean sea. The your left is a well equipped and elegant kitchen, with a stainless steel fridge the size of a 1bedroom apartment in Knightsbridge. To your right the living room has a fireplace, and satellite TV. Further right a corridor leads to the master bedroom, with a beautiful en-suite, and sliding glass doors that take you directly out to the main terrace, with an infinity edge swimming pool. The view is of the bay of Marseille, with Marseille far in the distance. The view at night, with the string of city lights strung against the horizon, is stunning. Back in the living area, an open tread circular staircase takes you upstairs where there are 2 single bedrooms, one with a beautiful balcony, and a further double bedroom which, like the downstairs double, looks directly out at the bay and the Mediterranean. The bathrooms are large, and both have baths. One the ground floor, behind the kitchen there is a utility area and a further WC. And from every angle of the house there are views, views to be enjoyed and absorbed, that change throughout the day and make this house a delight to be in.
Around the Villa
The house is a delight to spend time in but, when you decide to explore further afield, there is plenty to delight and keep you busy. From near the house a set of steps takes you down to the seafront, which here is on the edge of the cliffs. You can rent boats or kayaks to explore, or travel just a little further for sandy beaches. The beautiful coastline of the Calanques, and the coastal towns of Cassis and Bandol are not far away. The famous Luberon area is around an hour away, with the towns of Gordes, Isles sur la Sorgue, Roussillon and Vaucluse all delights to explore. Aix en Provence is just over half an hours drive away. In the area it is also possible to do plenty of water sports - snorkeling, bay fishing, surfing, sailing, wind-surfing and sailing. Further afield there are some great golf courses, as well as some excellent cycling country.
